Even more customisation: the ALDHU 3D+ Crank by Rotor
With the ALDHU 3D+, Rotor has developed a trend-setting road bike crank system that can be freely configured and assembled without special tools and expertise. Thanks to the Direct Mount system, changing chainrings is a matter of minutes when using the One Piece combi chainring or single chainrings with Direct Mount Spider – a hex tool is all that is needed.
Whether it’s with round chainrings or the oval Q-rings from Rotor, everything is possible. The Direct Mount System of the ALDHU 3D+ allows for the first time the fine adjustment of oval chainrings in 1 degree increments, and thus an incomparable amount of individualisation depending on your personal requirements.
ALDHU is an acronym of Alpe d’Huez, and is reminiscent of the 2008 Tour de France, when Carlos Sastre took the first significant victory with Rotor components at the legendary mountain finish.

Technology:
Aluminium 7055
Rotor uses only the best materials to make the best cranks. 7055 combines the superior physical properties of a 7000 alloy with incredible wear resistance. Each bar of raw material is ultrasonically inspected to ensure that it is free from internal defects. Rotor uses 7055 in manufacturing the completely CNC-milled pedal cranks such as FLOW, 3D+ and REX 1.
Aluminium CNC
Made with the latest technologies. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling ensures a precise and uniform production process. This is particularly important when manufacturing components that must function properly and work in congruity with other parts. Thanks to state-of-the-art CNC equipment, Rotor parts are manufactured with extreme precision, down to a hundredth of a millimetre.
TDS
Rotor CNC cranks are stiffer than competitive cranksets thanks to Trinity Drilling System (TDS). In this procedure, three full holes are drilled from the bottom bracket to the pedal. This creates a box-like grid, similar to a box girder bridge. This makes the cranks extremely stiff while at the same time reducing weight, resulting in an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio.
Twin Leg
Rotor’s Twin Leg Concept (TLC) offers the stiffest possible crankset by balancing the left-right stiffness of the cranks. A super stiff right crank arm is of little use if the left crank arm cannot keep up. By designing the pedal cranks as a set instead of two separate crank arms, TLC contributes to the best balanced cranks available.
Oval Chainrings
Bio-mechanical studies show that Q-Rings provide better performance than conventional chainrings. The effect is achieved by making the largest muscle groups in the legs more effective and eliminating the dead centre when pedalling. This results in a much smoother and rounder ride overall, with less muscle fatigue. The biggest advantages of using Q-Rings are the significant improvement in general fitness due to improved pedalling, greater sprinting ability due to the elimination of dead centre, slower muscle fatigue, and ultimately an increase in cardiovascular endurance for athletes.
A submaximal test followed by a time trial over a distance of 1 km proved that the Q-rings reduce heart rate and oxygen consumption while improving performance by 1.6 seconds compared to round chainrings.
OCP Mount
The exclusive Rotor technology OCP Mount stands for biomechanical optimisation of the pedal stroke when using Q-Rings. OCP Mount allows you to adjust the alignment of the chainring on the crank in 1 degree increments. The shape of the axle allows independent positioning of the crank arms and Spider or Direct Mount chainring, changing the relative position so that the optimum setting can be found for the user.
The multiple positioning possibilities of OCP Mount allow a super fine adjustment of the OCP (Optimum Chainring Position). This makes it possible to prevent or eliminate knee problems, to optimise the effectiveness of the crank rotation or to improve the traction on the MTB and cyclocross.
Position your chainrings with Rotor’s OCP Mount System to get the most out of your ride.
